Villa Thermae Nancy

The rooms were average at best. Our studio was noisy from traffic and smelled of bad cooking, while the corridors smelled of urine. Swimming cost €16, and that’s terrible value. You can’t wear normal swimwear, and they seemed very keen to sell compliant swimwear for another €10. It was tight underwear that many people wouldn’t be comfortable wearing. I can tolerate some pretentiousness, but the place has to earn it. Avoid it and spend your money at another Nancy establishment.

After a week of skiing, we spent one night here and really enjoyed it. The rooms were clean and roomy, and good value for what we paid. The thermal spa was a lovely way to relax. A great affordable stop after skiing, I'd recommend it.

The staff were friendly and professional, and breakfast was decent. Everything felt new, and our room was very clean. We barely had any issues, aside from thin toilet paper and an occasional slight urine smell. The bed was comfortable, and the kitchen had enough equipment to cook, plus a dishwasher. The TV worked well; we set it to Dutch and logged into Netflix to watch our favorite series in bed. The rooms, entrance, conference rooms, and breakfast area have a minimalist look. We didn't use the spa because we went into the city. There's a nice park next door, and you can walk from there to the center in about 20 minutes. A bus stop is right outside. The garage is under the building, with two lifts from parking levels -1 and -2 straight to the rooms. You need a keycard to get from the garage to the rooms, and there are around 12 electric charging points. Parking cost €15 a night, which seemed fair to us. It was easy to unload our bags and other things from the car.

The rooms are spacious and modern, and the spa is beautiful, though it costs an extra 22 euros. The city center is about an eight-minute drive away. Breakfast was very poor, and the dining room service was bad, so I felt it was a waste of money. I also got the impression there may be some improper arrangement between the receptionist and the taxi driver. Whenever we ordered a taxi, we got the same driver, who demanded unreasonable fares at the end of the ride and was harsh and rude. Be careful. I felt unsafe about possible scams, and I won't go near this hotel again.
