Hotel Abat Jour

The hotel was musty and cramped, and I can’t recommend it. Staff weren’t even there during their stated hours. In the few minutes I dealt with the older gentleman and the person I presume was his spouse, he made annoyed noises dozens of times and seemed to have no interest in customer service. When we came to collect our bags, they’d been locked away from us for more than 4 hours. The younger man who was there then was cheerful and seemed keen to help guests. I hope you get him, not the woman who angrily yells at you when you ring the front door for service or the older gentleman, who showed no sense of customer service.

The location is brilliant, right in the center, so you can walk to all the tourist spots, with plenty of nearby bars and restaurants too. The rooms are fairly basic, and while there’s nothing wrong with them or the hotel, don’t expect much. Think of it as a place to sleep and recharge.

It might look like an ordinary 2-star hotel when you arrive, but the rooms are stylish, nicely renovated and really pleasant. The welcome at reception is warm, and the location is ideal for seeing the city. Very good value for the price. Thumbs up.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the clean, tidy room was cozy and quiet. The location was good too, not too far from the city center. Breakfast was okay, but it could offer a bit more variety, like extra kinds of cheese, eggs and crepes.
