ibis Styles Nantes Centre Place Graslin

Right in the city centre, with everything close by, which was great. My room was beside the elevator, though, and the noise sometimes made it difficult to rest. The breakfast room felt cramped and got too crowded on some mornings, so I went elsewhere. When I did eat there, I thought the selection could use more variety.

The team here were lovely and went out of their way to help, which really matters. The hotel was clean, and my room was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was generous, with enough variety that there should be something for everyone. They also leave fruit, coffee, tea and croissants out for guests throughout the day, a nice touch. The location works very well for exploring the city on foot.

The room was tiny, and the shower cubicle felt coffin-like. An average-sized person barely fits, and there’s hardly room to raise an arm to use soap or shampoo. The toilet was awkward to use too. There was no drinking water, toiletries, safe or coffee maker in the room. Breakfast was very poor. I can’t believe Ibis operates a place this awful. It felt like a cheap bed-and-breakfast den. Don’t stay here.

The location in town was great, and I had a really good stay for the price. Breakfast was the highlight: freshly squeezed orange juice, a range of quality artisanal teas, good coffee and plenty of food, though not many vegetables. My shower was a bit small, and I would have preferred a closed door for a tidier look. Maybe it’s under new management, because the hotel is very good value.
