Hotel Milton (ex Gis Hotel)

The way breakfast was handled the next morning really upset us. Safi had warmly welcomed us on our first night and invited us to the buffet, saying we only had to mention that he’d offered it. But when we came down, the receptionist on duty and a woman in the breakfast area were cold and dismissive. They said our names weren’t on the list and spoke as if we were trying to get something we hadn’t earned. We were eventually given a takeaway coffee, which was hardly what we expected after the welcome the night before. We weren’t asking for charity, just accepting an offer from a hotel staff member. We’d initially been very happy with the warm reception at this apartment hotel in Paris, but this left us feeling disrespected and tainted the stay.

The metro station was only about a 5 minute walk away, and the room was spacious with all the amenities. We spent 3 days in Paris and chose this place because it sat conveniently between the Eiffel Tower and Disney Land.

The reception staff were nice, and if you get a room facing the river, the view is a plus. Beyond that, it feels like a three star hotel offering just the basics. The rooms are small and standard, and there’s no room for an extra sofa bed. WiFi gets painfully slow at peak times, so streaming a series isn’t realistic. Breakfast is much more basic than the photos suggest, with just one coffee machine and a queue to start the day. In the bathroom, be careful not to burn yourself, and I hope you can make it through the week with one tiny bottle of body wash and one toilet roll. If you come by car, don’t count on parking outside. To get into the garage you have to call them to open the door, there’s no pass or buzzer. And there isn’t even a bar where you can complain over a drink.

It’s 200 meters from the train station, and the price is good. I love this apparthotel. Everything is clean, and the service lady and receptionist are both very kind.
