Hotel De La Jatte

The staff were cheerful and very helpful, and the woman at reception was especially lovely. I’m sorry I didn’t get her name, she had dark hair and glasses. We’d just finished a three-night stay to see the Paris sights. The room was spotless, and the morning service was excellent: the maid even folded our pyjamas and washed the wine glasses we’d used the night before. Breakfast was a lovely continental spread, a nice change from the usual fry-ups. I like a big breakfast to keep me going all day, and there was plenty for that. The hotel is well placed for the sights. We took Ubers into the centre each day, though I understand public transport links are good. There’s an easy taxi pickup and drop-off right outside, and our Uber trips to the centre and Gare du Nord station averaged about £18. We found a lovely restaurant, Le Nouveau, a minute’s walk away. We went in very early, but they looked after us well. The food was lovely, especially the escargot we tried for the first time, and my fillet of beef was scrumptious. The staff were helpful and fun, especially when we said we were from London. There’s also a nice Italian restaurant almost next door. We arrived late and couldn’t stay long, but the food was great and the staff were fun again, even though I suspect we delayed their closing a bit. A well-stocked supermarket is just around the corner, and there’s a lovely bakery too. On our first and last days we bought rolls and cakes and ate them beside the River Seine. Really relaxing. It was a very pleasant stay, and I’ll definitely recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Paris.
