The extra charges were a shock. We followed our friend's instructions to separate the glass from the other rubbish, but were then charged €400 for allegedly mixing waste, despite never being told that was something to avoid. There was another €400 charge for "extra cleaning." When we asked for photos, the evidence included an unopened packet of biscuits. The six wine bottles we left behind weren't mentioned. We were also accused of not cleaning the BBQ, although we first had to burn off someone else's leftover food and cobwebs before we could use it. The rooms were hardly spotless either. "Mediocre at best" is generous. The room had no fan or air conditioning, and its only window opened straight into a garage with birds in it. The accommodation felt outdated, more like a museum piece than somewhere with charming vintage character. Host contact was minimal unless we went to them. Nobody welcomed us, introduced themselves, or checked that we were comfortable. Time and basic hospitality standards seemed to have passed this place by. If you like stifling rooms, surprise fees, little human contact, and an atmosphere of studied indifference, you might enjoy it. Everyone else should avoid it.
