La Roseraie

A cute, well-run little B&B-style hotel. The kids loved both the pool and the breakfast room, and the service was great.

Julie, the owner, gave us a great welcome and some really useful tips for places to visit nearby. We spent a wonderful weekend with friends around Poitiers et Futuroscope, using charming La Roseraie as our base. The rooms were lovely, breakfast was great, and everything went perfectly. The regional sharing platter made a great evening meal, packed with well-prepared local products and served with a lovely wine from a friend's vineyard in Saumur. It was so generous we could barely finish it, and the prices were very reasonable. Breakfast was the usual French style and there was plenty, though by then we wished we’d booked another night. Julie also made things easy for us in English, even though we speak French, and left a personal note on the breakfast table. She did everything she could to make our stay go well, from greeting us to our departure. The room was spotless and well equipped, with tea and coffee, which still isn't common in France, and quirky, lovely decor. The bed was comfortable and we slept really well. The shower room and toilet were exceptionally clean and well maintained, with bio products and no little plastic sachets or bottles. There are fridges on site with complimentary fresh milk, plus cold drinks to buy at sensible prices. The pool area was as well kept as the rest of the property, and there was also a small football pitch and table tennis. One of the best small hotel stays we've had, certainly the best in years. You couldn't be disappointed.

Breakfast was a feast, with homemade food, and Julie was a lovely hostess. The room was nice, and the bed gave us the best night's sleep in ages. We appreciated personal touches like the welcome card at breakfast. We'd definitely stay again and highly recommend it.
