Aparthotel Adagio Nice Promenade des Anglais

The beach is nearby, which is about the only good thing I can say about this place. The breakfast is plain and simple, and nowhere near worth the 18 euros per person. The rooms need serious refurbishment. The flooring looks dated, and there are cracks in the floors, walls, and ceiling. It felt like a cheap, low-end serviced apartment carrying the Adagio name. I wouldn't call it four-star, and it was probably worse than plenty of three-star Ibis hotels. The staff seemed unprofessional, and the place looked seriously understaffed. As a gold card member, I asked about the welcome drink and was told it was juice or coffee. When I asked about wine or other drinks, which many other Accor hôtels offer, the staff basically laughed and said, “There's no free wine in France.” I know each hotel can offer different things, but that attitude was intolerable. The reception desk was also extremely busy and stressed when we checked out.

A kitchen is part of the apartment, with a dishwasher, stove, microwave, and fridge. You can ask for a coffee machine too. There's a back exit straight to the tram station. There are plenty of supermarkets and restaurants nearby, so I don't see a reason to spend 18-20€ on breakfast. The room was clean, though daily cleaning costs extra. There aren't any drapes on the windows, so the sun wakes you up. The TV is tiny, and the balcony chairs are near the end of their life. The place could be kept up a bit better.

The location by the beach was good, but the room had no cupboard and there wasn't much parking. When we asked reception about parking, they refused to give us the card that would get us a discount. Our key was faulty too, and when we asked for a replacement, she didn't give us one.

We were quite happy with our room, even though I thought it could use some renovation or refreshing. It had cutlery and the basic kitchenette equipment, and the sea view was incredible. We booked that view for a three-night stay in November. There's also a terrace upstairs. Breakfast was just enough, and it had the best hotel coffee I've had in a while. The staff were kind and helpful. Just note that a safety deposit is required.
