Hôtel Belle Meunière

Nice-Ville station is very close, the seafront is about a 15-minute walk, and there are lots of restaurants nearby. We could also leave our bags for free after checkout, which helped a lot. The hotel is on a quiet street, with a lovely Nice-like look and a secure feel. Staff were incredibly helpful and couldn't have done more for us. Soft drinks at reception were fairly priced. The rooms are a little dated but spacious, with en-suite bathrooms. Ours was very clean, and housekeeping made the bed every day. Thanks to the owners and staff, I'd recommend staying here.

A laid-back, convenient place. Shops and the train station are close, and the beach is an easy walk away. Everyone on staff was friendly. I'd stay again on another trip to Nice.

This little hotel turned out to be a beautiful surprise. The bed was comfortable, and the room, towels, and linen were clean. Staff were casual but very professional, polite, attentive, and clearly communicated with one another. The room could use a few small touch-ups, but it was quaint. Old Town and plenty of attractions are only a few minutes' walk away. I highly recommend this gem, 10/10.

Thursday morning started with a charming-looking hotel beside the train station, which made it convenient to get as far away from it as possible. The manager greeted us and insisted on being addressed by her first name rather than surname. She let our group of nine leave our bags outside while impatiently waiting for us to get organized after a 20-minute walk in the heat from the tram stop. After lunch by the beach, we were charged extra for “City Tax,” though the site hadn't mentioned it and said all taxes and charges were included. Room 4 was cool and pleasant at first. One person in our group found no tap on the bathroom basin, and the toilet flush was held together with a wine bottle cork and wire. About 30 minutes in, we heard tapping every 2-3 seconds and saw a damp patch slowly spreading on the false ceiling. Reception noted it but didn't seem concerned. That evening it had grown to cover the ceiling tile nearest the wall. The night receptionist gave my friend, who was sleeping below the leak, a key to room 5 in case water came through. The bed there squeaked. At 4am, a ceiling tile fell away and water poured straight onto my friend's bed. I yelled for him to grab the room 5 key and get out of there. The next morning, the manager wasn't apologetic and seemed angrier than we were. She blamed the plumber, saying he'd come the day before to fix the shower drains and had texted that the job was done. She did get it fixed that day. The shower itself was decent and warmed quickly, with easy-to-adjust hot and cold valves, though you had to hold the shower head because there was no wall mount. Nothing else major happened over the next two nights, and we spent as much time as possible away, visiting Menton, Monaco, and Ventimiglia. On the last night I woke with a couple of bites on my finger and toe. I didn't think much of them until I saw other reviews mentioning bed bug bites. I also left some fridge magnets in the room at checkout. When I came back at 6pm to ask about them, the receptionist looked at me as if to say go ahead and check. They were gone, and the receptionist said the cleaner had removed them. That part was my fault, but it was the final straw. Looking back, we should have read the reviews first, and we take the blame for not doing our due diligence. The hotel may look “cute” outside, but inside it is seriously neglected. Manager, please take pride in the place: guests are your business, and you should make them feel safe. Don't stay here.
