Best Western Plus Hotel Brice Garden

The room was a poor fit for four people. The two single beds sit down a step from the double, leaving almost no space to move around. Our corner room faced the street, so loud cars and people shouting kept us up, and we could also hear the neighboring room and heavy footsteps above. The WiFi barely reached our room at all, even after we asked for a router reboot, though the hallway had a decent signal. The bathroom and sheets weren't clean, and turning on the dusty air conditioner sent dust onto the bed. The location was only so-so for us, about a 15-minute walk to both the station and the beach. Depending on your plans, staying closer to one or the other would be better. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The room itself was nice and worked for three of us, and some of the staff were good. But the sunny, staged photos online didn't look like the real place. The listed beach amenity was actually an affiliated beach 10-15 minutes away on foot, and it wasn't free. The bar was tiny and unattended. When a front desk employee covered it, he needed directions on which glasses and alcohol to serve and seemed irritated by our requests. The trip ended badly after the other two people in my party had to leave early. I wanted to check out a day ahead of schedule and move closer to the airport because I didn't feel comfortable walking alone on dark, deserted streets. The desk employee questioned why I felt that way, so I had to explain my reasons again. They then said they couldn't help because we'd booked through Expedia. Expedia tried to assist, but the hotel stopped replying to them. It really put a damper on the end of the trip.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the air conditioning was excellent. The beach is a short walk away. My bed was comfortable, but the room felt dated and smaller than I'd expected for a four-star hotel. There were no robes or slippers, and the towels were thin. They left two small plastic bottles of water on the first day, which felt cheap for this class of hotel.

We arrived to check in at 9 p.m. and found a room completely different from what we'd booked and paid for. It was so cramped we could barely move, and it wasn't functional. The window was broken and wouldn't close, and the old furniture looked nothing like the online pictures. When we complained at reception, they said the hotel was full and told us to wait until 9 a.m. to speak up because there was no manager in the building. That's no way to treat a guest. There was no service or concern for guests. Don't waste your money here. Our friend found a three-star hotel with a better room and better service just three minutes away.
