Hotel Carlton Nice

The central location makes it easy to explore the city, but the rooms are so cramped that two people can feel packed in. The toilet is tiny, and the washroom has a serious mold problem, even if it’s a bit more manageable. Hot water takes ages to come through, so a lot gets wasted, though it’s fine once it heats up. The dining area is just as tight as the rooms, and asking for extra croissants gets you disapproving looks.

The walls are very thin, so we could hear our German neighbors chatting in the morning. Bring earplugs and you should be fine. My sister and I also felt safe walking back late after dinner: the street is well lit, the area is peaceful, and there’s a lovely church right across from the hotel. The front desk staff were kind and caring. We completely missed the 11 o’clock checkout, but they sorted things out without making a fuss. It was handy to be able to wait in the lobby after checking out before our train or flight.

When I planned my holiday in Nice, I chose this hotel based on Google reviews. The front desk staff were caring and welcoming, and helped us upgrade to a room with a large balcony and lovely scenery outside. The room was spacious and clean, with plenty of hot water. We had a very good stay. Nice is beautiful, and I’ll come back and book here again.

You can hear everything from the other rooms because the walls are thin. There were builders working on other rooms, and housekeeping didn’t understand that I didn’t want my towels cleaned. Worst of all, the TVs didn’t work, even after I complained to reception, especially when I tried speaking French.
