Hostel & Hotel Meyerbeer Beach

The hostel’s shared kitchen is one of its best features, though you have to take turns using it. People working there are lovely and create a caring, respectful atmosphere. Students seem to come first, and it feels healthy that the hostel gives them somewhere safe and happy to live. As someone a little older, I found it somewhat noisy for a few hours. The rest of the time it’s quiet, but there’s music, so it never feels sad. Sharing rooms isn’t easy, of course, and sometimes the room smelled bad, especially after the air conditioning had been running around 21 degrees for hours. The rooms have good lockers and a fridge, but some beds make noise because they sit on metal springs. I think this is what a hostel is supposed to be like.

The staff are friendly and helpful, the location is unmatched, and the dorm rooms are definitely above average for a hostel. It’s a fantastic place, and I’d stay here again next time I’m in the area. If you’re looking for a very social hostel, though, this may not be the one for you.

Getting a car parked nearby might be tricky, but the apartment is only about a 10-minute walk from the city center and 300 meters from the promenade d'anglais. I booked a private place on the fourth floor. It was really nice, clean, and had air conditioning. Recommended.

Such a welcoming, accessible hostel, and the staff were so friendly. Loved it!
