Hotel De La Mer

We were lucky to get their only balcony room, and it was amazing. The bed was comfortable, and the rooms are clean, updated, and modern. There’s a lot of potential here, but the workmanship and details need attention. The bathroom door handle came off in my hand when I touched it, the shower head sprays water everywhere, and the toilet keeps running after you flush. There also wasn’t much hot water for showers. I really want to love this hotel, but the room could use a lot of TLC.

The location is superb, and I’d stay again for that alone. Staff were friendly and the room was clean, though both the room and bathroom were very small. I wouldn’t recommend it if you plan to spend much time in your room. The amenities, including toiletries, felt like three-star level. Someone is always at reception, but you enter using codes. I found the doors hard to open, and it wasn’t clear how to check in until they gave me the access code. I don’t think there was a lift either. The room was fine, and the location was great.

I stayed with a group of 11 recently. We had good rooms, a great location, and a great breakfast. The only thing missing was a pool! I know the building dates from the 19th century, so adding one wasn’t possible, but I’d recommend it if it could be done :-D.

My daughter and I spent several days here in June, in a top loft room that gave us a bit of exercise. Southern France was good for that too. It sometimes felt like everything was uphill, even the way back. The hotel made an excellent base for exploring the area. We bought a transit pass for $50 each and saw as much as we could. Our French was poor, so Google Translate helped. Everyone we interacted with was excellent and understanding. There was a grocery store nearby, and everything was excellent. We may come back and bring more of my kids. Thanks for having us and making us feel comfortable. We’re from the West Allis, Wisconsin U.S. area.
