Hôtel Vendôme

The location was perfect for walking to the main areas and the beach, and that made up for some issues. The hotel was traditional and beautiful, and the room was large with a nice balcony. We were there in May, so it was manageable that the AC didn't work. The bathroom extractor fan was out of order too, and the room had a musty smell.

The location made it easy to enjoy Nice, with the Old Town right nearby, shops a short walk away, and the promenade and beach about 5-6 minutes on foot. Restaurants are close too. We stayed five nights and found the hotel lovely. It’s an older building with charming French architecture, but it’s clean and very well cared for. The staff were especially friendly and helpful, and our room was cleaned daily. A great place to get a feel for Nice.

The location worked really well for us, a few streets from the seafront and about 50m from Durandy tram station on the same road. From the airport, you can take the L1 or L2. The Lignes D'azur app lets you pay for trips at 1.70 each, though that ticket isn't valid to Monaco because it's only for the yellow zone. We arrived early and they kept our bags for free until check-in. The room was small but had most of what we needed, and the bed was clean and comfortable. The toilet kept dripping and waking me, though. The coffee pods were replenished after cleaning, but there was no milk either day, so we had to ask reception twice. Breakfast was 15 EUR each. Most of it was cold, apart from eggs you cook yourself, and you make your own orange juice. The machine coffee tasted amazing. By 9.30 there was no cheese or milk left, and the small breakfast room had no seats for later guests. A family of five were sitting and chatting rather than eating, which didn't help, though that wasn't the hotel's fault.

The rooms were quiet and clean, and it was easy to walk to nearby restaurants or down to the water along the promenade. Breakfast was fantastic, and there was a salon to relax in, plus happy hour.
