Ibis Budget Nice Airport Promenade Des Anglais

The room was small and outdated, but that was what we expected from a budget hotel. What we couldn't live with was the strong sewage smell. It was there as soon as we got to the room, and even with the window open for hours, it didn't go away. Housekeeping cleaned the next morning, but the smell was just as bad. We eventually told the staff, who brought in a machine to remove the odor, but it made no difference. When we asked to move rooms, we were told nothing could be done. In the end, we had to book at the hotel next door and ask for a refund. Very disappointing.

The receptionists were professional and helpful, and I want to say a big thank you to them. When it was pouring one day, they lent me an umbrella so I could go out and buy one at the supermarket. After checkout, they let me leave my backpack at reception so I could enjoy my last day in Nice. I could also borrow a hair dryer and, though I didn't need it, an iron. Thanks as well to the cleaning ladies, who cleaned my room and left fresh towels every day. For meals, you can order ready meals at reception or go to the restaurant in the Novotel. The staff are really friendly there, and the food is tasty and well priced. There's a bar for drinks too. I stayed four nights and had a great experience. It felt like home, and I'd be happy to return. The hotel offers good value and is close to train, bus, tram, and airport connections. It takes 20 minutes to get to the city centre, and the neighbourhood feels safe at night if you want to wander more in Nice Vielle. Supermarkets are about a 12-minute walk away.

My room was basic but clean, very comfortable, and absolutely adequate. A very good breakfast was ready even though I started early at 04:00, and the night manager was congenial. On the afternoon of 27 January, the gentleman at reception did a great job finding my reservation. He was friendly and competent, and his English was excellent, which helped me out with my French. Sorry I missed both their names.

For one night, this was a very nice, inexpensive hotel, with very good service. It's close to the airport. The room was small and basic but clean, and the shower was good. Breakfast was okay.
