ibis Nice Aéroport Promenade des Anglais

There’s more than one Ibis in Nice, so make sure you pick the one on Promenade des Anglais. Walking along the Promenade, it’s the Ibis just past the Arena. The first one you’ll come to is the Ibis budget, and this hotel is a little farther along. It’s still close to the airport and train station, and well located for visiting the sights in Nice. A wonderful place to stay.

It’s good value, but they seem a bit short-staffed. There’s just one iron and ironing board, and I waited nearly an hour before they eventually borrowed another from a different hotel. Breakfast is very basic, mostly bread, and it could use more staff. On a weekend, two people were running the whole area, so refills took time. It’s okay if you just want to grab something and go.

The beds weren’t comfortable, and the price felt far too high for such a basic room, with just a bed, bathroom, and one tiny bin. The hotel is literally opposite the airport, which wasn’t the nicest setting, though it worked for us after our flights were cancelled and we wanted to stay close by. One staff man was very odd about my tray. He singled me out and insisted I put it away when I’d only just started putting food on it, then seemed unhappy after I did. I still don’t know why.

The service was amazing, and there’s a restaurant and bar at the hotel. Rooms are basic, but clean, quiet, and comfortable. Ours faced the street and airport, yet we heard no noise at all. The area looked a bit sketchy, but we walked around at 10 pm and never felt unsafe. It’s very close to the airport, with a two-minute walk from the tram stop and three stops from Terminal 1. If you’d rather skip hotel breakfast, there’s a patisserie about three minutes away across from the tram station.
