La Maïoun Guesthouse Hostel

It’s a lovely little place with clean rooms and curtains, which really matter. The location in town is great, and breakfast is filling. It can feel a bit like you’re intruding in someone’s home, but otherwise I liked it.

Four nights here were a highlight of my trip, especially because I met some amazing friends. It’s a small place, but there were enough people around to make it easy to connect. The hosts were responsive, and it felt homey. The location was amazing, and the bunks had privacy curtains, power sockets, fans, and blankets, with everything I needed. I’ll definitely come back!

The hosts make you feel welcome, and the homemade warm breakfast each day adds to the feeling of being looked after. They also happily lent me an umbrella when it rained. Getting around was easy: the bus stop is opposite the hostel, the tram is a two-minute walk, and the old town and beach are five minutes away. It’s a safe neighborhood. The rooms are spacious, with privacy curtains on the beds, plus a towel and padlock for your locker. There’s a mini fan by each bed, which was handy in summer. The washrooms were always clean, and all the little details seemed to be taken care of.

There’s no kitchen, but you can use a fridge and microwave, and coffee and tea are free at any time. Breakfast is included each morning, with homemade pastries that change from day to day. It’s a great setup for solo travelers: there are just two dorms, one female and one mixed, plus one or two private dorms. That keeps it quiet while still making it social. The location is ideal, close to the old town and promenade, and about 15-20 minutes on foot or five minutes by tram from Nice-Ville station. I’d recommend it highly. Book well ahead, especially for summer, since it seems to fill up months in advance.
