Mama shelter is clean, comfy, and quirky, and for a winter stay the price is great. It’s just outside the old town and close to the train station. The view was of the building across the way, which wasn’t great, and the rooftop was closed. The first night’s dinner was really bad. The squash soup was revolting, and the so-called cheese toastie was just thin, soggy bread with blue cheese. It didn’t resemble a toastie at all. The side salad was wilted and smelled of fish. Service was beyond appalling: the waiter rolled her eyes and ignored us several times. Probably the worst service I’ve ever had, and it really let down the day. I also wished there’d been a kettle, coffee machine, mugs, and the like, because the room felt like it was missing those things. The important bits were good, but plenty of other details weren’t. I’d probably come back, just wouldn’t eat there.

The port area is lively and trendy, with plenty of walkable ways to see Nice, so don’t assume it’s far from the center. This is a great hotel, with a big, well-kept room and amazing staff. We tried the restaurants on a couple of nights and enjoyed the food, drinks, and atmosphere at both. Definitely an address to remember.

We didn’t get to spend time in the pool, since we mostly walked to the beach each day. It’s about a 15-minute walk through Old Nice, which we enjoyed. The hotel itself is stylish, with a lovely rooftop bar, and the rooms are really comfortable with beautifully designed bathrooms. We had breakfast on our last day and it was delicious. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We loved our stay here, all around a lovely experience.

Mama, love you, and DJ Bob loves you too. Great team. The room was tiny but spotless. The pool area was really nice, though I thought it was on a higher level. The fond was very average.
