NH Nice

We spent five days here on a city break. The view from our room was incredible, and the layout worked well for our trip. It’s in a perfect spot for bus and tram routes. Nice has an exceptional public transport system, with an efficient card and phone app for managing your account. Breakfast was standard, but the staff were accommodating. Everyone at the breakfast bar and reception did all they could to help us enjoy the area. The cleaning service wasn’t at the same standard, though: the floor was dirty, service was inconsistent, and over the five days the room wasn’t fully cleaned or restocked with the basics.

We had such a great week in Nice and loved staying here. The rooms were lovely, and the location made getting around the Riviera easy, with plenty of bus and tram options. The staff really made it for us, especially the check-in team and the helpful people at breakfast. We can't wait to come back.

My family and I felt well looked after throughout our stay. Everyone, from the reception team to the breakfast and housekeeping staff, was friendly and professional, which made it easy to relax and enjoy ourselves. Thanks so much. We'll be back.

Getting around from the hotel was easy enough, with Tram L1 and buses 8 and 12+ just steps away. The old town is a bit far on foot, but takes about 15 minutes to reach, and bus 12+ goes directly to the airport. The staff member at reception did help us when my husband became very ill with a fever on our second night. I asked if we could move to a room with windows that opened, and she noticed how unwell he was and arranged Room 422 on the fourth floor. It was much better, with natural light and fresh air. But we'd spent the first part of our seven-night stay in Room 228, which felt like being tucked into a rat hole at the end of the second-floor corridor, facing the courtyard. It was dim, stuffy, airless and scorching even in December. The cooling system barely worked, and the windows couldn't be opened. That room had a clogged sink, a badly working bath screen that let water flood the floor, and an unpleasant smell. Staying there was a nightmare and badly affected our holiday in Nice. The hotel also felt dated and poorly maintained. The room lock didn't seem secure, the lobby wasn't welcoming, and the restaurant only served breakfast. There's a tuckshop and a microwave in the lobby, but the microwave doesn't allow outside food. I couldn't believe a four-star hotel charged for umbrella use from a vending machine instead of lending one for free. Housekeeping was slow, still unfinished at 4pm, and below standard. They encourage guests to skip daily cleaning in exchange for a bottle of drink. This was my first stay with NH Hotel, and I'll avoid the brand in future. In my view, the hotel doesn't qualify as four-star.
