Villa Rima

The only issue was parking.

We spent a peaceful family holiday at Villarima, close to the sea and the center of Nice. The terrace was lovely, and those fiery red sunsets were something else. The villa has loads of charm and is practical and thoughtfully laid out. We found everything we needed there. It’s a calm, serene place.

We stayed in the large apartment with nine people, and it was bright, spacious, and so quiet. The layout gave us enough room that we never felt crowded. There’s also a second kitchen, which came in handy for keeping the children occupied when we wanted a bit of peace. The villa sits on a quiet side street, really close to Place Garibaldi and the pedestrian street. There’s no separate dining room, so meals for nine happen in the kitchen, which can feel cramped. It wasn’t a big deal for us since we were there to explore rather than sit over long family dinners. The owner was incredibly welcoming and had everything ready for a great stay. We’ve already booked again for next year!

Getting around is easy from this stylish, metropolitan area. The old town, museums, attractions, department stores, and city beach are practically around the corner or easy to reach. The landlady is friendly and speaks German. The apartment is a little worn, though it has the basics. It gets very hot in summer. There’s no air conditioning, just a standing fan and a ceiling fan, and you need to leave the window open at night to cool it down. The living room and kitchen don’t have effective exterior blinds. It’s also on a busy uphill side street, so there’s engine noise even at night from bikers speeding recklessly and wannabe Laudas. There’s no covered parking right outside the building. The parking is about a 200-meter walk and costs quite a lot extra, though the walk itself wasn’t a problem.
