ibis Nogent Sur Marne

The staff were friendly, the breakfast buffet decent, and access from the A86 was easy. There's a good secure underground car park. I wasn't keen on the new 80cm single beds. The recent room refurbishment also seems to have left peeling skirting boards and dirty or rusty bathroom door hinges, though everything was still clean and tidy.

The room felt modern and was very clean. After 2 days, we were given fresh towels without having to ask.

The friendly staff, pleasant smell, decent wifi, and nice restaurant were positives. It's a 10 minute walk to the train station. I stayed 4 nights, and it was okay for somewhere to sleep, but not great. The toilet was my main problem. After a day out or first thing in the morning, the water would be brown and smell horrible. I couldn't see a fix short of new plumbing, so I flushed a few times morning and night and waited for the bathroom smell to go away. The rooms need updating, or at least a deep clean. There was some mold in the shower and dirt in lots of corners. My room faced away from the highway, but I could still hear it a little. I think it would be very annoying on the other side of the hotel. I was there during the Olympic Games, so I can't judge the value. I think everyone in Paris paid too much.

I spent the whole night stressed and barely slept. There was a door in my room that seemed to lead to another door, and every so often I worried someone might come in. The stewards' room was next to mine. On arrival, the receptionist said the hotel had no empty rooms, but the website showed most rooms as empty. 😔
