Caribou Aventures

The meals were a real highlight. Breakfast came in a sealed warm bag with tea, coffee, hot chocolate for the kids, juice, cake, bread, fruit, cheese, butter, and lovely homemade jam. Dinner was salad, a main dish, cheese, bread, and dessert, with soft drinks, beer, or wine available as add-ons. The portions were generous, varied, and delicious. Food was delivered to the bubble, or you could eat by the pool. We stayed in a space-like bubble for three nights with Stéphane while traveling from London toward the Alps. We wanted to break up the drive and go bouldering with the kids, so his glamping place near the climbing spots worked out brilliantly. The bubble had two comfy bedrooms and a private middle room, with round see-through ceilings for stargazing. Moonlight and early sun come through brightly, so bring a sleep mask if that bothers you. There’s loads to do for kids of pretty much any age. We played water polo with Stéphane, whose competitive Canadian side definitely shows, and tried archery, football, basketball, beach volleyball, four-wheel pedal bikes, ping pong, babyfoot, swimming in the 25m pool, and bouldering. Crash pads and climbing shoes in lots of sizes are available at the camp. You can also pay for Acrobranche, Stéphane’s GoApe-style course, or rent a mountain bike to explore the forest. Friendly dogs, a very friendly donkey and horse, and two shy lamas roam around too. The whole site is beautiful. Take a walk and check out the tents, especially the ones tucked deep into the forest for extra privacy. I’d call ahead to check availability, since the website is only a tester of what’s possible. Stéphane is Canadian and speaks French and English. This sounds like a paid plug, but it isn’t. I just thought the concept deserved a shout-out. We’d definitely come back. It’s only an hour south of Paris, with two castles nearby if you want some culture. We were too busy having fun to visit them.
