The house was a huge disappointment. It was in poor shape, with peeling paint, a broken sink, a broken toilet seat, and about half the lights not working. The kitchen had hardly any cooking utensils and barely enough plates, cups, or glasses. There also wasn’t enough garden furniture for six people. The owner had left her dogs there, one shut in the garden and the other in a room inside the house, so there was lots of whining and barking. A live-in housemaid was staying in a small garden shed without running water or electricity. Modern-day Cinderella, to say the least. Hallucinatory.
