La Colombière

The location isn't especially attractive, but it worked really well as a base for North Normandy and the D-Day beaches and battlefields. The rooms are basic, though good value, and the hot showers were great. Sleeping rooms are in one block, reached by outside stairs; the dining room and bar sit across the generous car park in another building. Staff were so helpful to us Brits and spoke impeccable English, even with Brexit coming up. I was almost disappointed since I'd hoped to try my Duolingo French on them! Breakfast was a plentiful buffet, and the evening meals were delicious, including dishes I wouldn't usually choose. Highly recommended, and merci to all the staff.
