Le Pré Sainte-Anne

Really great.

The damp downstairs bedroom was especially disappointing, even in August. Outside, the children's playhouse and its toys were dirty and badly damaged, making them unsafe. The grounds look lovely in the photos, with the river behind them, but the pictures are old and don't show what the place is like now. Inside, whatever the style is meant to be, the house feels very dated, worn, and not clean. The refrigerator is far too small for the number of people the house can accommodate, and we had just one dish towel for the whole stay despite the listing including everything. The beds had wrinkled, worn sheets and pillowcases. The toys could use a trip to the recycling center. I left disappointed.

The garden furniture and barbecue were so dirty we couldn't use them, and the dishes were barely usable. The outside looked nice apart from the freshly cut grass left lying around, which made walking there unpleasant. Inside was a mess. The photos are out of date, and everything felt worn or dirty. There was dust on the furniture and around the house, while the sheets looked faded and very creased and the pillowcases were badly worn. Very disappointing.

The gîte looked quite nice, so I was surprised by how cold and unpleasant the welcome was. The receptionist was extremely rude on the phone when I called to ask about a date in June. They first said it was available, then changed that. When I explained it was for a wedding, they said, “Oh, well, it's already booked for that person, so there you go!”
