Le Rivage

The Loire river location was the one bright spot. I'm vegetarian, and we called a few days ahead so there would be something for me to eat. At the full price, though, all I got were side dishes like French fries. I think €50 for soup, some fries and a small dessert is excessive, even if it was presented nicely. There was no protein in my main meal, and I was very disappointed.

I only visited the restaurant, and the food was delicious with beautiful presentation. It was the sort of plating that makes an American want to take a photo and send it to family or post it, LOL. The restaurant is right on the Loiret river, with outdoor seating when the weather's nice. Plan to speak some French, and you'll be glad you did.

The riverside spot was lovely for an afternoon in the sun with wine and a few beers, and there's plenty of parking on site. The staff were helpful, looking after a small hotel and restaurant. My room was basic and small, but the location right by the river was lovely. Dinner was fine, if a bit pricey, while breakfast was disappointing even by continental standards. It was fine for a one-night stop on the way to bordeaux, especially for an evening drink by the river.

A warm, clean and comfortable room with a great river view, comfy clean beds, and a lovely bath and shower. The team was friendly, parking was easy, and it was good value. It's a handy place for a stop or a longer stay, with lovely walks along the Loiret if you've brought a pooch.
