Pavillon Bleu

We stayed for a week during the cycling event Semaine Federale, and the location worked really well for it. Breakfast was quite sparse and very traditional French, though the brown bread was lovely. There was nowhere to keep our bikes out of the weather. We had dinner once. It was fine dining, but a bit too chi chi and not substantial enough for cyclists.

A peaceful riverfront setting made the meal especially enjoyable. The food had lovely flavors and an impeccable texture, and service was attentive throughout. I had a wonderful dining experience and would highly recommend it.

We stayed two nights and didn't try the restaurant, though it looks lovely from the reviews. The stay was okay, with some disappointments. Our room, number 4, faced the parking lot, not the river view shown on the website. I know not every room can face the same way, but booking online does create expectations from the photos. The room was clean and a little rustic, which was fine, but the toilet needed repeated flushes. There weren't many power outlets: the ones by the bed were used by the lamps, and of the other two, one was under the table and didn't work. This is an old building and noise insulation is poor, so the main doors were quite loud. The bedroom doors didn't close properly anymore, which was a problem for the bathroom and toilet. We also found a baby cockroach running across the bed. That can happen, and we didn't see any others, but it needed mentioning. Breakfast was disappointing. For a three-star hotel, I expected a buffet, but instead there was the same pre-filled basket for everyone. It didn't match the quality I'd expect from the restaurant. Breakfast was served in the hall by the hotel entrance, though they could have served it outside by the river.

This characterful, elegant hotel made for a delightful stay. The atmosphere was relaxed, and everyone was friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding, as was the wine, and it's a beautiful spot by the river.
