Bastide du Mourre - Fontenille Collection

We loved relaxing by the pool, and you can also jog or bike to the beautiful villages of Maubec and the old oppede. The hotel is magnificent, with superb cleanliness, breakfast, staff, and grounds. It’s a great couples’ getaway in Provence, just a short drive from some of the best-known villages in Luberon. The pictures really speak for themselves.

The staff were wonderful, and the property is beautifully designed in a lovely setting. Still, I found it overpriced for what it offers, especially at about USD $300 a night for a Monday / Tuesday. It doesn’t feel like a 5 star hotel to me, and the design seems aimed at an English-speaking Instagram crowd, with inspiration from the Caudalie hotels. Food options nearby are limited because of the remote location. The hotel restaurant has a fixed dinner menu with no choices, though 45 euro seems reasonable. See the photo for the menu from the night I was there. Getting there is a challenge too. The last mile is on a very steep, narrow, badly paved road without street lights. That’s understandable in such a remote spot, but it made coming back after visiting nearby villages difficult. The wifi was atrocious, and reception was so limited that using a hotspot was hard. I wouldn’t count on being able to work from here.

Leah, Joel, Cecile (if I’ve got that name wrong, forgive me!) were wonderful hosts, chic and understated but still attentive. The pilates was really good, and finding Susan Kaufmann products was a lovely surprise. I was glad there were healthy lunch options too. Absolutely exceptional service, and I’d love to come back.

We had such a relaxing visit, and really enjoyed the complimentary yoga class and tennis courts. The venue and facilities were fantastic, as were the staff. A special thanks to Alexandra for the wonderful service.
