Curious about art as a subject? It’s worth a visit. The installation is isolated, though, so plan time to leave the main gravel routes and get there, NR Thouar. You don’t need to book, and some rooms are closed while refurbishment is underway.

The hosts made us feel so welcome, and it was a plus that they speak English. The castle feels authentic but is also really comfortable, with modern, high-quality utilities. It’s been renovated and maintained beautifully. Dream stay, and excellent value for money. 🏰🌟

You can see all the way to the Pyrenees, and it’s wonderfully quiet in the middle of nature. The hosts are lovely and can tell you all the castle’s stories. It’s a beautifully renovated castle, with lovely rooms that each have their own style.
