Ambiance Morvan

The Morvan nights were a highlight, with the most beautiful starry sky in Europe. In the daytime, two chickens would often come by. We had a wonderful stay at the rustic Ambiance Morvan campsite, with four large, peaceful fields. Brigitte and Michel are kind, generous owners who run the place with care and are always there if you need them. When it rains, you can cook and eat in the kitchen, which also has a large bookcase.

We were welcomed so warmly by Brigitte. The rooms are quiet and comfortable, and the breakfast is generous. It’s a lovely rural spot right in the heart of the village.

The village has a bakery, small supermarket, café, and restaurant, which is quite unusual for rural France. We stayed at the campsite for a week at the end of May 2022 and found it peaceful, in a beautiful setting. There are six pitches, four of them enormous, almost the size of two pitches elsewhere. You camp on a lovely lawn among the trees, with some shade throughout the day. The old-fashioned sanitary facilities were very clean, and the hot shower is free. Guests can use the kitchen and eat at the table, handy if you’re cycling or walking. Drinks are available from the fridge at reasonable prices, and you can enjoy them on the sheltered courtyard terrace. Definitely recommended if you’re after peace and quiet.

We nearly drove past, but went through the gate and found a lovely little plot with plenty of room. The friendly owner took over the campsite in January, and I hope you have a wonderful season. There’s Wi-Fi under the gate, and we were able to keep our e-bikes inside. The kitchen has a pleasant seating area as well as room to cook and wash dishes. The toilets have a real French feel, and there’s a lovely hot shower.
