Le Domaine de Panissac

Breakfast was a treat: our hostess made her grandmother’s French toast recipe especially for us, and it was lovely. We slept really well, then took the owner’s two dogs around the large garden. It’s due to be restored to its original glory, though even as it is now, it’s a peaceful, beautiful spot. The welcome was just as lovely. Our hosts made us feel at home and were happy to help with anything. The room was cosy and comfortable, with sumptuous furnishings and a superb ensuite. The hot shower was amazingly powerful for a building of this age and size. The house itself is magnificent, full of original details: high ceilings, a beautiful staircase, polished wooden floors and panelled Georgian doorways. Set just beyond its own grand stone archway, it feels like a special haven with plenty of old fashioned grandeur. For the price, this gorgeous chambre d’hote is ludicrously inexpensive and amazing value. Highly recommended, you’ll kick yourself if you don’t book.
