Stay away! The place is on a street in one of Paris's slums, with prostitutes and creepy men. We got ourselves out of there as quickly as possible, gave up the money, and booked another hotel. We understand it’s an apartment building with no lobby, if anyone wants to take a chance. We called, but the man didn’t speak English.
The owner was very disrespectful and couldn’t handle being asked simple questions on the phone. The location seems very shady too, there isn’t even a name on the front door.
Very little space, and there are four flights of stairs to climb. No elevator.
The welcome felt personal, and the place is open around the clock. My room was bright and looked onto a pedestrian street. The double glazing worked really well, and the bedding was good quality. The host kept a low profile but was happy to share tips when asked, including ideas for unusual places to visit or restaurants away from the tourist crowds. A very pleasant stay.
The apartment was clean, and my roommate was genuinely nice, so those are the two stars. What wasn't clear when booking was that I’d be sharing the apartment with him: I had my own room but shared the bathroom, and the kitchen wasn’t available to me. He was home the whole time, and with how noisy the apartment is, I didn’t get a moment of privacy. He did keep to himself and leave me alone, though, and during the introduction he gave us lots of useful Paris tips. The bathroom was much too small, and the apartment is in the red-light district.
