Appartement dans Le Marais

Room 22 was a poor experience all around. The bed was so uncomfortable that when two people lay on it, the lighter person actually lifted up. We slept terribly, and when we asked for another blanket, we were told there weren’t any. The shower also flooded the whole bathroom floor. We paid extra for breakfast hoping for something simple like eggs or a sandwich, but got only sweet pastries. I wouldn’t pay for it again. We chose the hotel for the window views in the photos, then arrived to find the building under renovation. There was no view, and in the mornings we couldn’t even open the windows because workers were walking right outside. With the prices being so high, I don’t understand why guests aren’t told about the work in advance. I can’t recommend this hotel.

Room 14 was small, but they told me it was different from the other rooms, and it was laid out really well. A little quirky, cute and modern, and quiet. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and breakfast was nice, with croissants, pastries, juice, and coffee. The location in the Marais is great, very close to Saint Paul’s Metro stop. It felt like good value for the price, and I’d definitely stay again. Merci, Hotel Emile!

The outside was being renovated while I was there, so I couldn’t sit at the French balcony and watch the street. Once the work is done, you should be able to enjoy that too. It’s a small, pleasant boutique-style place, set among Paris’s vintage shops, little cafés, bakeries, and lively streets full of art. The staff were warm and friendly.

The staff were easily the best part, especially Leon and the morning lady whose name I didn’t catch. The rooms were on the small side, but that was what I expected. It’s very clean and close to everything. I’d highly recommend it and would come back.
