Art Hotel Batignolles

The neighborhood had an almost comical number of families with strollers. We’d spot at least eight a minute from our window or while eating at a nearby bar. There are also lots of restaurants around, and we ate near the hotel most nights. Metro stops are close too, and the location worked really well for us. We stayed a week with our seven-month-old son and would come back. Our room was clean and a reasonable size for Europe, though not huge. Two bars or cafés and a street nearby could be noisy with the windows open, but the windows were great at blocking most of it once shut, especially with the AC on. We only occasionally heard a loud moped, and never heard the neighbors, though I’m not sure how many were staying. Breakfast was good, but we only tried it a few times.

The bathroom was roomy and updated, and the room itself was generous by Paris standards. Everything was clean, the hot water was properly hot, and the elevator was small but always worked. A couple of minor repairs in the room would help. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It’s a three-star place, and knowing that when I booked, I found it toward the upper end. There are a couple of bistros or bars nearby, and the Metro is about a block away. I’d stay again.

Samuel and Ibrahim deserve a special mention. They were cheerful, attentive, and there for every question or concern I had. Their service is why I’ve decided to stay at Art Hotel Batignolles whenever I’m back in Paris. I’m already planning my 2019 trip. See you next year! I’d planned a surprise Paris trip for my mother and wanted everything, including the hotel, to go perfectly. The rooms are small, but I never heard the guests next door or above us. It was clean, cute, and comfortable, with free breakfast, and the staff clearly worked hard to make the stay enjoyable. The area is great, close to most of the main attractions, with plenty of restaurants open late. Who comes to Paris to sit in the hotel anyway? I definitely recommend it.

The hotel is in a good location, and the people were nice, but the dirty common areas were awful. The carpet was stained and filthy, and replacing it would make a big difference to guests. There were also a few smaller problems: a broken bedroom mirror and the manager left our door open.
