Charming Apartment - 1bd/5p - Gare du Nord

The sheets weren’t changed during the three days we stayed, though the towels were. The room was tiny and so hot you could barely move around. It looked nothing like the website pictures, and the bathroom was so cramped you almost had to step outside to brush your teeth. The clogged sink and shower made the bathroom smell like a sewer the whole time. It’s a low-budget two-star hotel, I guess.

The staff were great, but the rest of the stay was unpleasant. We paid €110 a night and booked a double room for me and my wife, but there were only two single beds and they couldn’t move us. On arrival, the room was dirty and smelled bad. It was very dated, and the bathroom was so cramped that the toilet sat too close to the sink to sit normally, so I had to sit sideways. There was no tea or coffee setup in the room or anywhere in the hotel. Breakfast was €10 each, served at one table in reception. The rooms and the place in general had an unpleasant smell.

The central location made the hotel easy to find, and it was affordable. But the pictures gave us the wrong impression. The place is dated, not as clean as it should be, and can be noisy. Breakfast costs €8.50 for juice, coffee, and a little stale bread. You’d be better off buying a pastry and juice from a shop for half the price. It really feels like a two-star place.

That low price might suit someone on a tight budget, but you do get what you pay for. There’s no air conditioning, and the bathroom was sauna-hot and smelled of sewage. I’ll NEVER book here again.
