Hotel Le Clos Medicis

I still haven't received the $400.00 hold back. The hotel keeps telling me it was refunded, but nothing has appeared on my account. I called, followed up by email, and got no reply, even though they had told me by email it would drop off after 7 days. Update Oct 2025: They emailed to say it was released on Sept 2nd, but I still had no refund in my account. Update Nov 2025: Still no refund. They say it was refunded, but nothing has posted. This feels like an absolute scam. They try to charge $400.00 for incidentals and then don't return it. Updated Jan 2026: No refund in Dec 2025 or Jan 2026. I think it's important to keep warning people, so I'll post here every month. If you're from overseas, don't let them put that $400 hold on your account. They won't refund your deposit. Don't use this hotel. They put a $400.00 hold on your credit card and never give the money back. Don't go here.

Breakfast was really good, with both hot and cold options, and the hotel has charming, artistic decor. It's in a central spot in Paris's charming Latin Quarter, close to the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Pantheon. Our room was smaller than I expected from the pictures on the site. The bed was very comfortable, and hygiene was very good. The bathroom had a good shower but no tub. Toiletries were limited to a small hand soap and a combined body wash and shampoo, though we had brought our own. The safety deposit box wasn't working properly, but the technician came the next morning and fixed it.

Good prices and a nice hotel in a convenient spot. I could hear noise from the neighboring rooms, though, so they should do something about that.

The shower was the odd part: there wasn't a door or curtain, so water could end up all over the bathroom floor. The wall dispenser only had a combined shampoo and body wash, so bring your own toiletries. We also had to leave the actual room key at the front desk whenever we went out, but that wasn't a big deal. Otherwise, the room had what we needed for our 3 nights. The air conditioning was ice cold and easy to control, the beds were comfortable, and the room was serviced every day without us asking. The room stayed very quiet, and we never heard the elevator or noisy guests. The elevator was small but fit 2 people and our bags. There was also a mini fridge, a hair dryer, and an iron available at the front desk. The location was excellent, with cafes, the Luxembourg gardens, and bus stops just steps away. The RER metro line is about a 10 min walk north, and a B stop nearby got us to the airport quickly. We liked Gavroche for traditional French food and Dandino for Italian food.
