CMG - Suite Premium Tour Eiffel - 71

For a weekend on a budget, this was a pretty decent option. If location and air conditioning matter to you, it was much cheaper than the other places nearby, and very close to Eiffel Tower. We’d stay again, so four stars from me. Getting in was a bit odd. They emailed asking for a $500 credit card deposit, but the link didn’t work, and customer service was hard to reach. Neither the phone nor WhatsApp number worked. I eventually figured it out. It was just a hold, never posted to my card, and disappeared within a day of checkout. The rooms are rather bare: just two flimsy pillows on the bed and no nightstands for a phone or water. There was no maid service during our three nights, so we had to buy our own toilet paper. That would be frustrating on a longer stay. Other reviews mentioned hot water and Wi-Fi, but those weren’t an issue for us. The water was very hot. Wi-Fi was only about 1MB, though, so not great if you need to work.

We had a good stay and loved it. There was no Eiffel Tower view from room 31, but we could see the swine. The key lock didn’t work, but someone picked up on the first call and sorted it straight away. Later, we turned on the heater to warm the bathroom and it tripped the circuit breaker. We called again, got an immediate answer, and customer service helped restore the power right away. They offered to replace the heater, and a new one arrived in the room the next day.

We were locked out of our room during my birthday weekend, through no fault of our own. Customer service never answered. We ended up sleeping on a downstairs coach, which didn’t feel safe because somehow homeless people had gotten into the building and were camping there overnight too. A cleaner let us into the room at 9 am the next morning. We asked for a refund and got no reply. The room didn’t look as nice as the pictures, and customer service was vile. Do not book here, their service is awful.

The first night, which was day 2 of my booking because we were delayed, went fine. Room 14 was clean and as it should be. On day 3, the door lock started giving us trouble. Annoying, but manageable. Then around 00:30 the power went out, including all lights and outlets, and even the bathroom was dark. I called every number I could find and nobody answered. I emailed a few times and got no response. I had a wedding the next morning, day 4, and went in a suit that had spent almost 14 hours on a plane. There was no turn-down service either, and we had the same towels from day 1. Now my phone is about to die and I have no way to charge it. I’m furious on a day that should have been wonderful. For what I paid, this place was not worth the hassle. I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
