Courcelles Etoile

I was surprised by how good the hotel was. The deposit is the price of one night's stay, even if you're only staying one night like I did, and they say it can take up to 15 business days to return it. It's now the 12th business day since I left and I still haven't got the money back. That's really disappointing about this hotel :(

The staff were warm and welcoming, the location was great, and my room was clean. The heating was the bigger problem: even though it was 26°C outside, the hotel had switched on the main heating, and there was no way to adjust the room temperature. The front desk suggested I open the window, but bugs came in, and it faced another bedroom window. For what we paid, the room felt small, the corridor was very dark, and there was no iron or coffee in the room. There are better places to stay in Paris. I wouldn't recommend it.

The reception staff made me feel at home as soon as I arrived. They were genuinely lovely and helpful, and that whole experience matters just as much to me as the room itself. The hotel is well located and reasonably priced, too. I'll make it my regular place when I'm in Paris for work.

The room was stuffy because the air conditioning didn't work anywhere in the building during my stay. Opening the windows at night wasn't an option with all the street noise. Staff said they were trying to sort it out, but nothing changed, and they didn't really help with any of the problems. Water also got everywhere because the shower divider was too small. The room itself was tiny and dated, nothing like the misleading pictures. The location and friendly staff were the only good parts. Easily the worst hotel I've stayed in, and I wouldn't come back.
