Design Appt for Opera Bastille- 4 to 6 Persons

The building’s unusual architecture gives it great acoustics, and the air conditioning made watching La Bohème comfortable. The beautiful scenery and bright lighting made us feel close to the world of the characters’ memories.

Tosca was my first time seeing that opera, and the production was beautiful. The sets, costumes, lighting, and sound all worked so well. I’d love to return to Opéra Bastille. I arrived 40 minutes early and got through security without waiting. The staff were kind and clearly directed me to my hall, and one worker even walked me to my seat. The bar line moved quickly during intermission, so I got a drink without a long wait. The bathroom line, though, was very long.

The building looks magnificent from the outside, and it’s worth seeing, especially when there’s a show on. We were on a tight itinerary and didn’t have time to go inside.

One of our seats had been split into two, and nobody had told us beforehand. When I asked the staff about it, they offered no apology or useful fix. We were left to sit separately or give up the seats, with no refund, replacement seats together, or attempt to sort it out. We'd travelled more than three hours to Paris for this performance and paid €400 for tickets booked a month ahead. It was meant to celebrate my partner’s 60th birthday, so we expected a professional, smooth evening. Instead, the lack of care and accountability made it upsetting and stressful. For an opera house with this reputation, the experience fell badly short. A very disappointing night from start to finish. I'd caution others before booking.
