With a toddler along in peak season, moving hotels wasn’t as simple as reception made it sound. The only response we got to our concerns was, “If you don’t like it, find another hotel.” The manager was nowhere to be found when we asked to speak with her, including on checkout day, and we overheard other guests unhappy with their rooms too. This was my first trip, and the stay left me so disappointed that I’ll think twice about booking hotels through your app. I’ve lost trust in it. The price I paid for this level of service was completely unacceptable. We were first put in a room where the bathroom door wouldn’t shut, so there was no privacy. There was hair on the floor and fan, the phone/intercom didn’t work, and housekeeping was poor. When we raised it, the first receptionist dismissed us, saying the room “was not dirty,” and management kept calling each problem “a small issue.” We were moved to another room the next day, but that evening there was no hot water. My toddler had to shower in cold water and cried, and my husband and I also showered in very cold water. A different receptionist on the phone said it would warm up soon. In the morning, the original receptionist was rude and abrupt, insisting the water had only been cold for 10 minutes. I pointed out that three people couldn’t all have showered in cold water within that time. He went to check, then told us it was warm, even though it had been cold nine hours earlier. I’ve never been spoken to so rudely at a reception desk. The hotel lacks even basic manners in dealing with guests and shouldn’t have three stars if it can’t acknowledge or fix problems.

The bed was amazing, and I slept really well. The hotel itself was nice and not far from the nearest metro. The shower drain stayed blocked for the first two days, though, so water spilled everywhere, and it can get very noisy at night. The window is only single-glazed. I’d stay again!

It’s a lovely, clean hotel in a good area, away from the tourist zone. There’s a Saturday market right outside, a supermarket across the street, and a nice bakery on the corner. You can also buy tea or coffee at the hotel if you don’t want breakfast. The staff are really nice and helpful. Noise was the main problem. If you want to sleep past 7:30 or 8 in the morning, bring earplugs. The doors are thin, so you hear everything, and our room was beside the lift shaft. Each time the lift was called, it hummed loudly, and its door creaked and banged. The cleaners were lovely, but noisy early in the morning, and knocked to ask whether we wanted the room cleaned. Maybe a door hanger would help. I’d still recommend the hotel, since good earplugs can deal with the noise.

We got a good price for a stay in a peaceful neighbourhood, with plenty of places to eat nearby and good public transport links. I’d easily recommend it to anyone after a budget stay in Paris.
