We stayed as a couple, but the bed is small for two unless you’re very close friends. The street is noisy, so bring earplugs. You need to keep the windows open because the rooms don’t have AC, and smoke from the restaurant downstairs may drift in. For the price and location, you get the basics and little else. It’s an old, worn, dated two star hotel. Everything feels lacking or out of date, but it was cheap and near the train station.

I only came to leave our bags for the day through radical.storage, which listed this place because it was close to the Station. When the owner greeted me, he made me uncomfortable right away. After taking our luggage, he handed me a notepad and pen and asked me to write my phone number so he could take me out. It felt completely unprofessional. I’m a woman in my early 20s, and he was over 60. I later realized I’d forgotten to photograph our luggage, which the storage company said was necessary, so I went back. He reacted with horrible aggression, shouting that he was too busy to get my bag from downstairs. Eventually he pulled it out from behind the door behind him, and it took about five seconds. Don’t leave luggage here, and definitely don’t stay here. The hotel stank and was genuinely the filthiest place I’ve ever stepped into.

The location is the only good thing about this hotel. The bathroom was a tiny cubicle with a shower, toilet, and sink. When you open the door, the toilet is right in front of you, and sitting on it means your knees touch the door. There’s no air conditioning, and the door kept sticking. There’s no lift, and the stairs are very steep and dangerous. I freaked out when I saw them and learned our room was three floors up, but the concierge moved us to the 1st floor. My husband and I had two suitcases, one weighing about 25kgs, and someone helped carry them to the room. At least he helped us. I’d hate to fall down those stairs.

I had the worst night I’ve ever spent in a hotel. It’s cheap, but still far too expensive for this level of quality. The room was dirty and damaged, with holes in the carpet, a cracked headboard, mold on the bathroom walls, very old blankets, and dirty marks on the sheets. When I complained, the manager only offered a better room on a future stay. I’m obviously never coming back. He then claimed the hotel was very central to justify the poor service. He refused to refund me through the booking customer service and sent them photos of a different room, trying to make it look like mine was clean enough. At this point, anywhere else seems better.

We checked out and left for a better hotel just one hour after checking in. I strongly recommend Hotel Sophie-Germain instead. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had, and for the price it felt like a total rip-off. The rooms were stuffy with the windows shut and extremely noisy with them open, since they’re just 1-2 levels above a street full of restaurants and bars. There’s no AC. The room had dirty linen that made my skin itch after I’d slept on it for only 10 minutes. The shower head was broken, the hair dryer malfunctioned, the floor mat and walls were moldy, and the TV and light switches didn’t work. The rooms are basically subdivided flats. There’s no elevator, so you have to carry your own luggage, and there’s no concierge. The staff had no manners. Staying in the park would have been better. It was inhumane and disgraceful.
