Hôtel Elysa - Luxembourg

My room faced the quiet back street on the third floor, so I didn’t get to see the lovely view mentioned in other reviews. It was a short, intensive work trip. The room was clean, modern, nicely lit, and cosy, though small, as Paris hotel rooms often are. The shower room was tiny but worked well. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the hotel itself is a charming boutique place in a fantastic location, just a minute from Luxembourg station and the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg. Breakfast was simple but lovely, with a good range including pancakes, eggs, cereal, yoghurt, juice, coffee, and fresh pastries. There’s nothing wrong with it, but I’d consider skipping breakfast since the neighborhood has so many lovely places with similarly priced options, and it’s nice to get out and sit down somewhere. A great stay, highly recommended!

We were disappointed and felt misled by the room we were told was an upgrade. We had booked a Classic room, and at check-in the staff member said we’d been upgraded. The room was very small, older, and less well equipped. Its only apparent extra was a balcony, which we couldn’t use because it was raining. The hairdryer looked like an old telephone, and the unattractive bathroom and toilet were separate. My siblings arrived the next day with the same Classic room booking, but theirs was much larger, more modern, and better designed. They had a modern bathroom with the toilet and shower together, plus a normal, up-to-date hairdryer. That made our so-called upgrade feel like a downgrade, and left us feeling the hotel hadn’t treated us honestly. The hotel is acceptable for a short stay, but this experience seriously affected our impression. Check the room before accepting an “upgrade”.

I spent six nights here, but problems disrupted three of them and made the stay feel unsafe and unmanageable. The bathtub leaked on multiple nights, flooding my room and the one below. Once, there was also a soiled comforter. I had to pack my things and move to another room in the middle of the stay, where the hot water was unreliable despite repeated maintenance requests. Staff kept contacting me to check the water while I was resting because of a back injury, even though I’d already notified them. I emailed management several times asking for a partial refund, and nobody responded. These issues created serious health and safety concerns and ruined half of my trip. I can’t recommend the hotel. Management was unprofessional and refused to help. A total waste of money.

It’s easy to get around from here, with good connections to the airport and all parts of the city, and lots of places are walkable. The hotel was very clean, with daily room cleaning and fresh towels. In the lobby there’s a coffee machine, sweets, and a water dispenser, and guests can borrow umbrellas. Trust me, you’ll need them in Paris. I’d definitely recommend it and plan to come back.
