Hotel Floride Etoile

Allen, the night attendant, was a superstar. We had no luggage after the airline lost it, and he showed us where to find a clothing store for essentials, pointed out sights we shouldn’t miss, and made us feel so welcome in his country. The local tips made the trip even more memorable. The desk staff were helpful too: when we had to cancel our first dinner reservation because of the lost luggage, one of them called the restaurant so they wouldn’t think we’d simply skipped it. Our housekeeper went above and beyond, lifting our heavy suitcases to clean and make the beds. We’d left in a rush for reservations and hadn’t tidied or packed up, so we were very thankful to return to a made bed and clean room. The room did its job, and was clean and comfortable. We picked this hotel for its proximity to sights and dining on our first visit to Paris, and had the best experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

The location and comfort were satisfactory. Before I arrived, I got a targeted phishing message with accurate, confidential details from my reservation. The hotel later confirmed in writing that there had been a security incident and that it was reported to the relevant authorities. During my stay, they offered a bottle of champagne, juice and a few snacks as a courtesy, along with a short written apology from management. To be clear, there was no room upgrade. I stayed in the room I had originally booked. I appreciated the courtesy, but later emails asking for clarification or a meaningful gesture for customers went unanswered. The most disappointing part wasn’t the incident itself, but the lack of follow-up and concrete action afterward. Even an offer of breakfast during the stay would have been appreciated. There were apologies, but no real effort to address the situation from a customer’s perspective.

The lobby was stylish and the staff were extremely kind and polite. This felt well above a three-star hotel, with an excellent location about a 10-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. There are lots of restaurants nearby, a grocery store just two minutes away, and a metro station about five minutes away. The rooms are very small, though, and the doors and walls have no sound insulation. For two nights of our week-long stay, a neighbor’s snoring kept us awake.

The room was spacious, which we appreciated, and the location is excellent for visiting the Eiffel Tower. Still, the room felt quite dated and badly needed a deep clean. On our first night there was no hot water, so we had cold showers the next morning. They said the boiler had broken, and to their credit, it was fixed within 12 hours. Breakfast choices were limited, though the pastries were a nice highlight. A decent option if location is your top priority, but the maintenance and amenities let us down.
