Grand Hotel de Paris

This was the worst hotel. You have to leave your key at reception when you go out. One evening another person was at the desk and handed me my key without asking for a name or any documents. Someone else could have asked for the key and gotten into my room, so it didn't feel secure. At breakfast the next morning I couldn't find a seat. There were only a few tables and chairs, not enough, so I took my breakfast back to my room.

The location was only okay, and it wasn't worth putting up with the rest. The room was noisy, the floor was very uneven, and one bed sat on a slope. There was a huge, steep dip right in the middle of the floor. We also didn't have enough bath towels or cups for everyone booked into the room, which are basic necessities. When we asked the older man at reception about it at 8 p.m., he said to ask the front desk during the day, even though they advertise a 24-hour desk. Then he pretended he couldn't hear us, which was rude and childish, and offered no solution. Notre-Dame is a 40-minute walk away, or about half that by metro. Visitors, be warned: don't book.

A nightmare with my family. Bedbugs bit us all over, turning our holiday into a painful experience. This is the dirtiest, moldiest hotel I've stayed in, and the bedbugs made it even worse. I'm still suffering the consequences. I'll definitely avoid this kind of hotel.

On our first morning, sewage came up through the bathtub and filled the bathroom. The toilet wouldn't flush and the smell was unbearable. They moved us to another room, but its shower was clogged, and we were still expected to sleep in the original room with the sewage. Then we found bedbugs on the beds we'd already slept in and left immediately, disgusted. Staff told us not to touch the bed and moved us again. In the next room, the bed was flipped against the wall, there was no chair, and it was just another place to shower. It seemed clear they already knew about a problem. We were shifted through five different rooms, and no one apologized or showed any concern. We didn't get a single euro back, no refund or compensation. The lift is tiny and feels unsafe. Electrical sockets were coming out of the wall, and the pillows were hard and smelled awful. A horrifying stay, with no refund and no responsibility. One of the worst experiences I've had. Avoid this place at all costs.
