Grand Hotel des Balcons

Carrefour de l’odeon sits just beneath the hotel, and coming back there after a day out made it feel like home. I’ve been to Paris countless times and have already stayed here three times. For me, this is the best location in the city, in an unbelievably lovely part of the rive gauche, around Odeon and jardin du Luxembourg. It’s close to the Louvre and Notre Dame, too. You really appreciate the spot once you’ve explored Paris. The staff are great, breakfast is good, and it’s good value for money.

The receptionists spoke perfect English, which helped us a lot. Staff were all friendly and helpful, and we really enjoyed breakfast. Our room was just right, and we appreciated the fan in the hot weather. It’s handily placed between the St Germain and Latin quarters, near the Pantheon and university area. The river and Notre Dame are about a 20-minute walk away. My wife and I had a wonderful stay, and I recommend the hotel without hesitation.

I was allowed into my room before the official check-in time, which was so kind. The hotel’s in a quiet street right in the city center, and I had a great stay. I’ll be back!

I’ve stayed at The Grand Hotel des Balcons five times now and always enjoy coming back. It’s a small family-run place, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. The hotel is clean and comfortable. Rooms are on the small side, but that’s Paris, and a large room in such a central spot would cost a fortune. You’re two minutes from Odeon metro, with the rest of the city easy to explore on foot. The lovely Luxembourg Gardens are five minutes away, a nice place to relax in a busy city. This time our room was right by the elevator, even though we’d booked four months ahead, and we could hear people coming back after we’d gone to bed. That was my only real disappointment. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable stay, and we hope to return before long.
