Hotel Des Grands Boulevards

I got an upgrade on my first stay at the Experimental. The room smelled lovely as soon as I walked in, and I liked the fun decor and little touches like an adaptor and gorgeous bath products. The bed was so comfortable, and I had one of my best sleeps. The staff were super friendly and made me feel welcome. The metro is close too. Can't wait to return!

The room has a charming, clean, modern look, and felt just right for a couple wanting an intimate, stylish getaway. It is small, though most places in Paris are. The iron archway on the walk up is cute, and the courtyard restaurant looked inviting with its lights on at night, though we didn't get to try it. The street-facing window brought some noise, so I might have chosen a courtyard view instead, but it was manageable. The bathroom doors are oddly narrow, almost like stepping into a closet. With the dark decor the room also needs more lighting, especially by the coffee, where some under-shelf lights would help. On our last night I called the front desk to change the time for our airport cab. The woman insisted it was already booked for the time I wanted, then scolded me for not recognizing her and said she'd handled the original booking. She hadn't, I spoke with someone else in person hours earlier. I wasn't sure she had the right reservation, but didn't want to push it. Still worth staying if you're after a boutique feel.

The location is great, and the staff are fantastic, but the room was extremely tiny. We couldn't even open both our suitcases, and the bed wasn't queen size. I couldn't fit in it. The room's design, with the balcony, isn't standard.

It's a lovely place in a great location, and the staff are wonderful. The bathroom feels exposed because the curtains are so sheer that people can see in. At night you have to keep the lights off to avoid being seen. I wouldn't stay again because of the lack of privacy.
