Hotel des Saints Pères

We booked a few months ahead, and the price was reasonable. Our Classic room was slightly larger than the average double room in Paris. The hotel is superbly located in the St Germain des Pres area, and the staff at the Hotel des Saints Peres were professional and happy to help with anything. It's a cozy hotel that stands out in a very competitive city. If you're there over Christmas, the decorations are lovely.

They charge far too much for what they deliver. We paid $700 a night, and it should have been $100. The rooms are tired, very tired, and the Expedia photos look nice but don't match the place. The staff seemed nice, though I saw them often having to explain the poor quality and misleading accommodation from the lobby bar. The hotel has central AC and heating, so when they have the heat on, you can't switch your room to A/C if it gets warm. It was 70 degrees in September/October in Paris and there was no AC. Expedia should stop selling this hotel. There are several hotels for half the price that are much better. I'd suggest staying away from this one.

The hotel manager was incredibly accommodating about my feedback, offered a discount on my stay, and gave me a free upgrade for a future stay. I appreciated how it was resolved and would return to try again. Before checking in, I specifically asked the receptionist whether the rooms were comparable. He said they were, apart from the usual quirks of an old hotel. But after I got into room 301 and realized how loud it was, I called down and only then learned that this room has a known noise issue. That hadn't been disclosed upfront. The room is literally under the stairs, directly across from reception, with constant footsteps above and activity at the front desk. It felt like a spare room the hotel shouldn't rent at full price. I had also booked two other rooms at the same rate, both bright, quiet, and perfectly nice, while mine felt like a cupboard under the stairs. At this hotel price, with so many options in France, that was unacceptable. I was traveling while sick and desperately needed sleep, but couldn't get it in this room. Being upfront would have gone a long way.

The room was cozy but spacious, and the bedding was so comfortable I didn't want to get out of bed. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel is tucked away from the busy parts of Paris, but still within walking distance of some main attractions. Loved everything about it and highly recommend it!
