Hôtel du Parc Montsouris

This is the worst hotel in Europe, if not the world. They don’t know how to clean. If it’s meant to be three stars, it doesn’t even deserve one. The rooms on the first floor are awful too. Honestly, living under the Eiffel Tower would be better than staying in this terrible hotel.

The district and property were quiet and peaceful, and public transport was nearby. The service was kind, with daily cleaning and fresh towels. The kitchenette was a little cramped but still worked, and seemed reasonable for the price. There were a few stains on the curtains, though. I had a really nice stay and would still recommend the place.

Breakfast costs a little extra each day, but it was a generous continental buffet with plenty of variety, fresh bread and pastries, plus lots of coffee and juice. Staff were easy to find downstairs and spoke much better English than my bit of basic French. You can leave your luggage in the entrance lobby on your last day if you arrange it with them. Access is by key fob during your stay, but make sure you check in before staff leave for the day, and confirm the arrangements with your booking agent. The Parc du Montsouris is at the end of the street and is lovely for a walk or run. The hotel is small, friendly, and well equipped in the 14th arr, south of the main city-centre sights. It’s a 10-minute walk to Porte d'Orléans metro station, with an easy ride into central Paris. The rooms are small but have what you need for a short stay, including tea and coffee facilities and a kitchenette for basic microwave use, a fridge, and washing up. The shower room could use a little updating, but was otherwise okay. There’s a lift to the upper floors.

The room for four was absolutely tiny. There was barely enough room to walk around or open our luggage.
