Hotel du Pont neuf

The area was very noisy, and the floors weren't clean. The bathrooms were awful and smelled bad. Staff required us to leave our key behind whenever we went out. There was no elevator, and the narrow stairs made it hard to get luggage up to the room.

There’s a great view of St Eustache from the window, looking to the right, and the location could hardly be better. The proprietors were very kind. Just be ready for a lot of stairs, since there’s no elevator. There was no air conditioning, though they provided an electric fan. I’d definitely consider staying here again.

There’s always someone at reception, day or night, and the staff there were kind and helpful. Keep in mind there’s no elevator, so the stairs could be a problem if you have difficulty with them. I also found very few power outlets, so if you travel with lots of gadgets like I do, bring a power strip or adapter. The biggest draw is the location. It’s incredibly central, with public transport just around the corner and almost anywhere you might want to go within walking distance. It’s also one of the most affordable options in this area, which makes it a good find for budget travelers. The hotel is very old, and the doors and furniture look like they’re from another decade, or three. It wasn’t dirty, just dated. Rooms are tiny: a bed, small table, and wardrobe, that’s it. If you’re out exploring all day and only need a place to sleep and shower, it works. But the shower is very small and moving around in it is a challenge. I got what I paid for, no more and no less, and I’m fine with that. If you set realistic expectations, this hotel delivers.

We had a very pleasant stay. Our room was clean and comfortable when we arrived, and everyone on staff we spoke to was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Hôtel du Pont Neuf has the traditional Paris hotel charm we were hoping for. It’s a cozy place in a hard-to-beat central spot, with plenty of cafés nearby and many key sights within walking distance. I’d highly recommend it as a base for exploring the city.
