Hôtel Ducs D'Anjou

Our first room was room 61, and please don’t stay there. It had a moldy smell, mold on the ceiling, and paint or wallpaper bubbling from moisture. The air vent was full of dust that blew into the room, and the duvet was yellow with stains and seemed unwashed. It stuck out from under the cover, which really grossed us out. There was only a tub with a handle, so you had to sit in it to wash, and there was no shower curtain. We asked to move, but the other rooms we saw weren’t good either. After a day they gave us an okay room, but it still smelled of mold. Its tiny shower had a short curtain and leaked water all over the bathroom floor. We did get a refund for the first room because no one should have to stay there and it needs repairs. It’s a health hazard. The front desk woman was nice, but acted as if she didn’t know about the mold. The hotel is right next to the metro, which was the only good thing. The rooms are small and smell of mold, and this was our worst hotel stay ever. At best, it’s a 1-2 star hotel, not 4.

The management refused our request to cancel the reservation. There was a smell of damp and moisture everywhere, and our very small, old room and furniture had mold and damp too, as shown in the attached photos. At best, this is a 1-star hotel. A very bad experience.

We came over Easter weekend and were mainly looking for somewhere to sleep while we explored. The room was dated and quite small, but clean and had the amenities we needed. The value per night was excellent. The hotel is extremely convenient, in a lively part of Paris full of bars and restaurants, just right for the evenings we wanted to explore. Staff were very pleasant and informative. I’d recommend staying here if you plan to spend only a small part of your time in the room, basically just sleeping.

We felt safe and at home here, even though we were nervous travelers and found the city itself overwhelming. Check-in was easy, and staff took our bags to the room before we came back later in the day. At checkout, we panicked when we couldn’t find transport to the airport. The woman at the desk showed us exactly how to get to the train station and which stop to get off at. The room was cozy, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning handled the 30+ degree heat perfectly. No complaints at all.
